SKILLS CENTER RETURNS TO AIE SEATTLE
After two years in West Seattle High School, AIE is welcoming the Skills Center program back to the AIE Seattle campus.
The Skills Center is a program that is offered throughout Washington state through the public school system to teach students technical skills in various industries. AIE has partnered together with Seattle Public Schools to offer junior and senior high school students in Seattle computer skills in the game art arena. AIE Skills Center students are introduced to the fundamentals of programming, art, animation and computer graphics, giving them experience “behind the scenes” of entertainment production.
The first year focuses on developing basic foundation skills, while second year students dive deeper into the process of taking an idea from the concept stage through planning, iterating and polishing phases to make a finished product – delving into more advanced topics as they work towards realizing their original idea. The curriculum also includes Digital 2D animation, which is a vital foundation to advance on to other animation skills.
The AIE Skills Center program is a great opportunity for high school students to learn technical skills in animation and programming while still in school and earn high school credit and get a head start to postsecondary education, especially if that path leads to AIE!
