Portfolios should include actual source code as well as compiled working applications. Portfolios can include class work, game engine mods, or hobby projects, for example.

If you have a passion for programming, a willingness to learn directly from the industry, and an aptitude for problem solving, then we want to talk with you! • Design Portfolio Requirements | AIE

    Game Design and Production

A portfolio for the game design and production program can include any creative work you have produced by yourself or as part of a team. We are particularly interested in understanding the process you took to reach that design goal and the role you played in bringing the idea to life. Evidence of any form of game design is strongly encouraged, reach out to us for resources if you haven’t made a game yet!

Designers and Producers are responsible for documentation in order to communicate their ideas along with managing projects and staff.   A quality portfolio will include at least two writing samples that demonstrate thoughtful analysis of the game development world. This could include Game Design Documents, Modification Plans, Game Analyses, or other similar types of documents. We would also expect that you have a game project to demonstrate, be it a video game in an engine such as Unity or Unreal, a board or card game, or another created project. We don’t expect a polished product, we’re looking for cohesive systems, thought toward player interaction, and a notion of, “Where would you take this next?”.
