Summer Camps Lafayette

Learn how to make your own video games, animated film and 3d characters!

Looking to get your feet wet in the world of animation and video games? Try the Academy of Interactive Entertainment's Summer Camps! Camps are project-based, and you'll get to learn about the software and basic techniques used in the industry. Each week-long camp concludes with a pizza party, and every student will receive a certificate of achievement and a copy of their project to take home.

Lafayette Summer Camp Descriptions:

Game Programming (Design)

If you would like to learn some basics behind video game programming this camp is for you! Using the Unity 3D game engine, students will write scripts to solve a variety of problems like collision resolution, input handling, and managing the state of a running application. This camp will help expose how the game development process works and show you what a career in the video game industry is like. When the course is complete, you will earn a certificate of achievement as well as take home your creations to show off to family and friends! A pizza party will be held on the final day for camp participants. No prior experience necessary. For students ages 12-18. Held in conjunction with UL Continuing Education.

Creature Creation – Zbrush for Beginners

Channel your inner Frankenstein and bring your own monster to life! Join this course and learn the basics of ZBrush. Sculpt your very own monsters and paint them in 3D! A week of artistic fun awaits you in this week-long camp. A pizza party will be held on the final day for camp participants. No prior experience necessary. For students ages 12-18. Held in conjunction with UL Continuing Education.

Back to the Drawing Board – Animation for Beginners

From your sketchbook to the silver screen! If you want to learn the basics of 2D and 3D animation, this is the camp for you. Join this course and you will learn how to use several software packages, such as Flash and Maya, to bring objects and characters to life. A week of artistic fun awaits you in this week-long camp. A pizza party will be held on the final day for camp participants. No prior experience necessary. For students ages 12-18. Held in conjunction with UL Continuing Education.

New Orleans Summer Camps

New Orleans summer camps are held in conjunction with Delgado Community College. Registration will be made available very soon and detailed information can be found on the Delgado Community College-Continuing Education website.(Click on one of the "DigiCamp" links)

Age Range

For students entering grades 8-12.

Schedule

Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with 30-minute lunch break.

Supplies

Students will need to provide their own USB drive and submit all required paperwork before camp begins.

Lunch and Snacks

Students may pre-purchase a boxed lunch for three days; a pizza party will be held on the last day of camp for participants. Students may also bring their own lunch from home, but no microwave or refrigerator will be available. One snack per day will be provided and is included in cost.
