About the Instructor
Tony White is a British Academy Award winning animation director, animator, author, educator, and consultant. His early training was from some of the great masters in the field: Ken Harris (original lead animator for Bugs Bunny and the Roadrunner), Art Babbit (lead animator for Pinnochio and Fantasia), and Richard Williams, a 3 times Oscar winner, animation director on 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' and author of 'The Animator's Survival Kit'. Tony is a master in his own right, with a wealth of projects and credits to his name. His love of animation and its foundations will come to the fore in this short course.
Tony White’s “Drawing for Animation” evening workshops are based on his popular new book The Animator’s Sketchbook. Tony’s Sketchbook is a perfect way for students of ALL forms of animation to improve their core action skills. The book provides over 60 specific drawing exercises that help animators “see,” “interpret,” and “draw” like a Master animator.
Most important is the fact that if students work through the book and complete the exercises provided, they will have created an incredible resource book for presentation in that all-important job interview situation.
This course consists of 12 themed workshops, where each week a specific core principle of movement is discussed. Following that, specific drawings will be completed, enabling students to complete their own The Animator’s Sketchbook presentation portfolio.
Note: Signed copies of The Animator’s Sketchbook will be provided to all students of this course when they enroll.
